Albury Wodonga Health is in a unique situation as a health service. Situated on the border of NSW and Victoria, it serves the regional communities sitting on either side of the border and is also funded and governed by both the state governments. Currently operating 2 hospitals, one in Albury (NSW) and one in Wodonga (VIC), the leadership team saw an opportunity to reduce duplication of effort, improve care quality and future proof care delivery.  

Undertaking extensive community consultation, they arrived at a single-site solution for the community, but this has by no means been an straight-forward journey. In this talk, Janet will reflect on her experiences with: 

• Developing a masterplan that appeases the objectives of the NSW and VIC Government authorities, the regional communities and clinicians 
• How the single-site masterplan will reduce duplication, improve resource efficiencies, and ultimately improve quality of care  
• Developing a robust funding and governance mechanism to ensure efficient project management and delivery of the new redevelopment
